Welcome to Part 5 of these series…. Are you ready for the secret on how to build a network marketing team? I got you. Let’s continue with the 6th element of network marketing 2.0 business model.
6. Build a tribe that loves your brand and loves to buy anything your recommend without objections – A friend of mine was involved in a company and was recruiting up to 10 reps per day into his team.
One day, the company decided to shut off the network marketing wing of the company. For about 5 minutes, he was devastated.
30 minutes later he made a call out to one of the top earners in the internet network marketing community. Within 10 minutes, they exchanged ‘join’ links. He was in.
He sent out a quick email to his list (a.k.a the tribe) that he was holding an emergency online meeting–a webinar. Less than 2 hours later, he became the #1 recruiter and a top earner in the new company.
How the heck did he do that?
Wanna to learn how to build a network marketing team “light speed” fast like this guy?
OMG.. It’s simple.
- He built a list of loyal subscribers.
- He told them stories.
- He gave them free training.
- He entertained them.
They love him because of the value he had brought to them some how.
Network marketing 2.0 does not make a list of your 10 broke cousins. I have them in my family too.
Instead, it builds a following and a tribe of people who already wants to buy from you because you positioned yourself like a leader. This is an important wing of network marketing 2.0 business model.
That’s how to build a network marketing team like the PROs.
7. Acquire the choice of not having to STALK family, friends and cousins at family reunion with your business opportunity – It’s okay to launch your business with your loved ones. But think about it.
Besides the fact that what you are going to get is mostly rejections, it is not professional to just keep bothering them.
Some will say it’s not bothering; it’s follow up. Yea right…
I always ask …to not let’s argue about what it is. I’m more interested in the results of that type of activity. Network marketing 2.0 brings you into the world of professional marketing which aligns the 3 elements of marketing:
- Message
- Market
- Media
Aligning those 3 things is key if you want to master how to build a network marketing team sustain-ably.
When you have the skill, all types of choices on the internet other than pestering your loved ones open up and you can build your business easily.
If you live in the rural areas with a small population, it’s a non-issue as long as their is high speed internet. Then this business becomes a lot more fun too.
You can leave your family and friends alone and let them be after a maximum of 1 exposure. That 1 exposure is not even required if you really don’t want to.

8. Live a lifestyle of true freedom that doesn’t require weekly hotel business opportunity meetings – It’s funny how you join a business because you want freedom and the first thing they do is get you into non-productive commitments.
When I first joined that deal in April of 2009, I started going to weekly hotel meeting here at the Meadow lands in Secaucus New Jersey. I did it every Saturday morning at 9.00 am.
This is in addition to home meetings for various team members.
The idea for these meetings was to invite in new prospect guests for the business presentation. Sadly, most people in the room were mostly existing reps.
I brought in lots of guests but as much of a superman as I thought I was, the community was killing my motivation. Imagine, if the upline and his upline comes in every Saturday with no guests.
But anyway, this was about building freedom for me. The hotel room used to be so cold and I felt like I was about to freeze. When I asked “why so cold,” I was told it’s designed to keep people awake.
If you have to freeze people to death to keep them awake, doesn’t that make the interest level of the presentation questionable? That sounds like an oxymoron… LOL.
With network marketing 2.0, you start your freedom on Day 1. You only engage in professional marketing and prospecting activities that’s optimized to collect ‘yesses’ only.
There is no need to go to home meetings with only 2 or less people showing up. Do you know why that happens? They are not interested and they deemed your PBR (private business reception) a waste of time.
9. Become a true entrepreneur unlike the 98% of failing network marketers out there – Sadly, most network marketers bring the job mindset into the game.
Fundamentally, network marketing is not a job. It’s entrepreneurship. By not producing, you are not hurting the network marketing company. In fact, you continue to fund their operation.
Here is the kicker, the network marketing companies are quite aware of the failure rate.
Here is a short story on how not to build a network marketing team.
I remember going to a home meeting of a lady who joined through a guy in my team. This was a guy who told me he would not be doing home meetings but he will get some people in using his influence.
He was a mortgage officer. Frankly, I think he joined because the fate of the real estate industry was doomed at the time. This was 2009.
Anyway we ended up at this ladies’ house and then she asked me if she could just focus on selling the product and not recruiting. She clearly missed the leverage part of entrepreneurship.
Here is a quick lesson for you.
In entrepreneurship, you don’t get paid for the amount of hours you spend on activities. You get paid for the actual results.
This is not the only symptom of people with the job mindset. Let me share another one with you:
Sometimes they say “my company does not allow us to use the internet.”
Then I answer like this. This journey for you is not your company’s business. This is your business. They hired you because they are hoping that you will take charge like a true entrepreneur and produce.
Your focus should suddenly change now. But no worries, network marketing 2.0 automates your focus for you as well.
Here is the last lesson on how not to build a network marketing team.; You don’t get paid for obedience, you get paid for creating results.
