On today’s episode I want to talk to you about network marketing statistics. I want to share some of my thoughts with you. I was doing some research, and some of the numbers I stumbled across needed to be dissected.
I wanted to go through them with you so you can have a clear understanding of what it takes to build a thriving business from home. Not necessarily with network marketing, but from home specifically with Network Marketing 2.0.
Also I’m going to use that opportunity to share with you why it is very important that you pay attention to Network Marketing 2.0. Never mind the traditional network marketing or what you know as MLM.
After doing some research, I noticed specifically that some people wanted to know more about network marketing industry statistics.
The first thing I want you to note is that network marketing is not an industry. You should look at it more as a profession. I’m very aware that a lot of people look at it as some type of industry.
* Can I make money in transportation?
* Can I make money in oil and gas?
Network marketing does not fall in that same category. Network marketing is actually a profession. I learned that from one of the legends a long time ago. I still call it industry myself every now and then because I’m used to it.

Let’s be clear. If you want to take this business, especially traditional network marketing to new levels, you’re going to have to start looking at it as a profession. What that essentially means is you have to learn some skills.
This is EXACTLY just like taking your job serious. The only difference is that this is not part-time. It’s not full-time. It’s actually more of a lifetime. You wake up every day. You live and breathe network marketing until you become successful
Then you can decide to start choosing when you want to work. The idea is for you to compress the amount of mind work, the amount of skills and the amount of leadership skills specifically into 2 to 3 years.
Again, the phrase “network marketing industry” gives you the wrong perspective when you’re looking at the profession. It’s a profession. Let’s focus on network marketing profession and statistics.
I also noticed that some people were interested in knowing how many people became a millionaire; the network marketing millionaire statistics.
Great question. It’s usually the same percentage of people that become a millionaire in a regular profession. How many people became a millionaire in the motor industry by simply working a job?
Find out what that percentage is and I guarantee you that network marketing is not going to be different. Do you know why? Because there’s only so much room at the top especially in a regular profession.
The only difference in network marketing is that it’s actually a choice if you decide to stay at the bottom. In the motor industry or oil and gas or anything where you’re working a job, it’s not as much of a matter of choice.
The average person is going to be in the bottom because there’s only so much room at the top. In network marketing there’s more than enough room, but…
- Because of the nature of mankind
- Because people will not do what they’re supposed to do
- Because people may not necessarily be capable of the entrepreneurial spirit
… and the skills to climb all the way to the top 1% producers in network marketing, then you’re going to find out that that network marketing statistics comes out to be the same as everywhere else.
When you really look deeper into it from a psychological standpoint, it may just be that people don’t have the capability to be leaders.
Even the person that’s becoming a CEO at Ford Motors all the way from being a regular assistant or a help in the office is not your average Joe or Jane. There’s something about that person that makes them climb to the top like that.
I’m sure that the doors were shut in their face quite a few times. It’s not really different. They just refused to quit like the bests of us out here in entrepreneurial land.
I wanted to give you some insights into how to look at statistics when you’re looking at the network marketing profession. It’s not necessarily a useful number for you.
The questions you ask yourself are:
- “What are the statistics of you becoming successful?”
- “What is the statistic of you becoming one of the top 1% producers in network marketing?”
Ask yourself these questions…
How determined are you? How many times are you willing to take a shut door in your face before you achieve breakthrough and before you achieve “getting past the obstacles? How many times are you willing to do that?
I guarantee you that when you do a survey among a few people, many people are sick and tired… a lot of times. It’s a lot of times it’s because they’re not paying attention.
It’s a lot of times because people are addicted to failure. I’ve seen people we tell exactly what they need to do in 3 steps to become successful in network marketing, but they would rather listen to somebody that gives them 21 steps.
They’d rather listen to someone that gives them 50 steps because they feel it sounds a little more complicated and more real. Complication to a lot of people is equivalent to authenticity.
The truth of the matter is if you ask every millionaire and top achievers in the world, two of the secrets to their success … is:
- Simplicity – keeping it simple and
…which is probably the boring-est thing in the world. I don’t know if that’s a word, but it’s very boring to stay consistent. Because of that it makes success difficult for an average human being. Hopefully that makes sense.
I’m looking at some statistics here. These are statistics here from a website here that says…
“The odds of profiting by investing in the clearly illegal no-product pyramid scheme is approximately 667 times as great as the odds of profiting from the mother of all network marketing companies which is Amway.”
If you look at that statement, it’s pretty much saying that you are better off investing in an illegal scheme because you have a higher chance of making money than in network marketing.
Do you know why?
Because network marketing requires you to work, but more importantly it requires your entrepreneurial skills. If you invest in an illegal pyramid scheme, it’s more or less gambling.
The person that creates the scheme will make attempts to get more investors to give you your money back. That’s the whole point of the illegality of it.
When you’re dealing with network marketing, you’re dealing with a legal business. You’re right. It’s the same statistics of a person going to the top and becoming a CEO in Lehman Brothers or any of the big corporate companies.
It requires your entrepreneurial skill such as decision making, a healthy belief system in yourself, keeping it simple, persistence and consistence.
No one is going to stop you here in network marketing. It’s based on your production. Hopefully you have a better view of looking at network marketing statistics when next you’re doing your research on it.
